This is not the best outcome.
After you report to the manager, he tells you that he is aware that these practices
may be occurring, but he doesn't want to take action that could undermine the team
relationship within the department. He asked you to deal with the issue by yourself
as part of the team. "After all" he says, "you've been benefiting for several months
now. I'm sure you can live with this little extra compensation." This does not solve
your problem. If anything, you feel worse.
